The 30-member female choir Amalgamation sings Cypriot traditional songs at the National Museum
“In Aeran” is a live, multi-language music action based on Cypriot traditional music from the 30-member female acapela choir Amalgamation.
The musical event "To the Air" swings between liquidity and essential exchange. Consisting of a curated selection of traditional and traditional Cypriot songs, it acts as a collective uplifting action: as a whisper, ecumenical prayer, co-sounding and above all as a common breath.
For World Music Day, the impressive courtyard of the recently renovated Ethnological Museum (House of Hatzigeorgakis Kornesios) is transformed into a setting where history, architecture and music are joined in an atmospheric experience of the complex Cypriot cultural identity.
June 21st, summer solstice day, began to be celebrated in France in 1982 as “Fête de la Musique” (Celebration of Music) and quickly spread around the world as World Music Day. The basic idea of celebration is free access to music as a global language. Thus it was established to perform concerts and music events by professional and amateur musicians in public and cultural spaces that remain open beyond their usual hours, without artistic restrictions and with free entrance.
