The musical performance “Friends Sounds – The Karkia of Rigina” returns by inviting young and old people into a special experience full of narrative, live music and Cypriot tradition
A unique musical journey to the intangible cultural heritage of Cyprus promises to give to the public the performance "Friendy Sounds – The Carkia of Rigina", which is presented again on Wednesday 8 July 2026, at 18:30, at the Museum of National Martyr Kyprianou in Strovolos, with free entrance.
The performance is a special artistic proposal that marries the speech with music, drawing inspiration from the rich world of Cypriot folk tales. Through the power of narrative and live music, viewers are invited to rediscover stories carried from generation to generation and are an integral part of our cultural identity.
At the heart of the performance is the original Cypriot fairy tale "The Karkia of Rigina", in a text by Evangelos Christodoulou, inspired by the narratives of traditional folk tales. The stage narrative comes alive through the characteristic voice of Stavros Louras, one of the most important and most beloved representatives of Cypriot theatre.
The musical identity of the performance is signed by Andreas Papapetrou, who has undertaken composition and music editing, creating a soundscape that ideally accompanies the narrative and conveys the audience to the magical world of fairy tales.
A remarkable set of musicians participates in the scene: Anna Paul in the flute, Natali Neofytou in the oboe, Evangelos Christodoulou in the feast, Andreas Papapetrou in the accordion, Gurhan Nuray in the violin and Natasha Hatziandreou in the percussions.
The performance is part of the "Culture in every neighborhood 2026" program of Strovolos Municipality and is addressed to young and old people who wish to know or re-remember the wealth of the Cypriot oral tradition through a modern, artistic approach.
