The Xylophagou Community Council invites the public to a large celebration dedicated to the sea, fishing tradition and gastronomy of the place. On Sunday 12 July 2026, from 11:00 to 18:00, the Fishing Refuge of Xylophagos will host the Fish Festival – Feast of Psara, an event that takes place with the aim of highlighting the rich marine character of the community and becoming a meeting point for residents and visitors.
In a unique seaside setting, visitors will have the opportunity to become acquainted with the fishing tradition of Xylophagos, taste fresh fish and seafood mezes, enjoy music, dance and recreational activities, but also experience an authentic seaside experience.
The event is first organized by the Xylophagou Community Council, with ambition to establish itself as an annual celebration that will highlight the history, tradition and natural wealth of the region.
The program includes live music with the favorite "Paspartou" scheme, traditional dances, fishing and fishing nets, and tasting with sea products, as well as rich activities for children and the entire family.
Of particular interest are the free boats in the sea attractions and caves of Xylophagos, offering visitors the opportunity to experience the wild beauty of the coastline and the natural wealth of the area.
Fish Festival is an initiative that connects the sea with culture, gastronomy with tradition and local society with its visitors. Through the organization, the role of professional fishermen, the value of sustainable fishing and the importance of maintaining the marine heritage of Xylophagos is highlighted.
The festival is implemented within the framework of the "Sea, Fisheries and Aquaculture 2021-2027" programme, co-financed by the EU, through the Development Society of Larnaca and Famagusta Provinces.
