What becomes of thought when it serves ideology? How could philosophers, academics and intellectuals have contributed to the legitimation of Nazism? Through the case of Heidegger and, more broadly, that of the German elites, this meeting will explore the intellectual, political and cultural mechanisms that accompanied the rise of National Socialism. Can the study of this period shed light on certain contemporary issues? To what extent do these mechanisms still resonate today? It is our relationship to truth, to intellectual responsibility and to ethics that we propose to question.
With Emmanuel Faye, philosopher and emeritus professor at the University of Rouen Normandie, and Alexander Neumann, sociologist, researcher and professor at the University of Paris 8.
