Dalila Belaza knows how to weave landscapes made of voice and bodies. For Un peu pour mon cœur… the songs occupy a central place, carried by a sensitive memory linked to the choreographer’s family country of origin, Algeria. With this creation, she deepens a research where dance, voice and music become one. To achieve this, she brings together several performers around a principle of chorality: creating a common frequency capable of linking beings beyond individualities.
At Dalila Belaza, we inhabit a subtle land. Nothing is there to illustrate anything. One must understand that it is more about sensations than grand effects. The songs are the source and the extension of the dance, they do not come to illustrate or narrate it. Breath, vibration, and resonance are at the heart of her chiseled writing.
Already in Orage, presented at the prestigious Biennale de la danse de Lyon, or in Figures, her dance unfolded like a dense, earthy material, crossed by impulses close to ritual. Without ever citing a precise tradition, she let deep, almost archaic resonances surface.
In Un peu pour mon cœur…, this intensity opens more to the collective. Chorality, present in many cultures, becomes an essential principle. It touches the beauty of a perfect accord in its fragility. The body becomes another material for her and it forms with the music and the songs a common space, a place of sharing where each one carries, a little, within themselves, the hearts of others.
