Its creation almost thirty years ago had the effect of a revolution. A flagship work of a duo trained in both classical and contemporary and curious about urban dances, “Paradis” by Montalvo-Hervieu, has become the XXL manifesto of the diversity of styles, bodies, music and aesthetics. Its whimsical and humorous universe, inspired by the art of collage and surprise, struck a chord with all audiences, touching “the childlike part that each person carries within themselves”. The recreation of this colorful and tender Eden by Groupe Grenade appears as a given: it too was born in 1997, in the northern districts of Marseille. Composed solely of young dancers, children and teenagers, it develops a choreographic language that transcends borders. In 2026, its director Josette Baïz therefore wanted to bring back to life a cult show that echoes her own approach, and whose message of happy brotherhood is more necessary than ever. As a wink, its recreation inserts video excerpts of the original performers, a conspiratorial way of celebrating the double anniversary of a key moment in dance.
