Jewel of Irish literature, Gulliver's Travels has profoundly marked generations of readers around the world. This year also marks the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union held by Ireland since July, for a duration of six months. This double current event offers the opportunity to rediscover this mythical text and celebrate the vitality of Irish culture. The Historical Library presents alongside this evening a selection of documents and originals from its collections, thus highlighting the richness of Jonathan Swift's work.

Théophile Choquet is an actor and director. Trained at the Conservatoire d’art dramatique de Metz then at the Conservatoire de Strasbourg and holding a master's degree in theatre studies from Université Paris 3 Sorbonne Nouvelle, he creates and performs shows in France and around the world. His artistic approach defends an open vision of theatre, where literature and poetry meet, often in atypical venues (churches, historic monuments, libraries, boats). He also participates in conferences dedicated to the performing arts worldwide. In 2025, he is a guest programmer of the Festival FIGA in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil.
