A musical journey through the songs that UNESCO recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage, featuring the renowned rebetiko singer Giorgos Tzortzis
A tribute to rebetiko song, which has been recognized by UNESCO as an element of Humanity's Intangible Cultural Heritage, is the musical performance “Rebetiko – World Cultural Heritage”, presented in August at Koylani, Mitsero, Prasteio Avdimou and Arso, as part of the Cultural Decentralization Program 2026.
A special place in the production is held by the participation of the renowned rebetiko singer Giorgos Tzortzis, whose long career and deep knowledge of rebetiko lend authenticity and particular artistic weight to the performance.
The performance highlights one of the most important chapters of Greek musical creation, illuminating the history, authenticity and timeless value of rebetiko through songs that capture the experiences, anxieties and social reality of their era. At the same time, short narrative texts accompany the musical program, offering the audience a comprehensive insight into the evolution and cultural significance of the genre.
Participating are Konstantina Fella (vocals, baglamas, violin), Panagiota Fella (vocals, percussion), Michalis Fellas (vocals, bouzouki), Kyriakos Georgiadis (vocals, guitar), Angelos Ioannou (vocals, bouzouki) and Giorgos Tzortzis (vocals, baglamas), presenting a program that honors the musical tradition and the living heritage of rebetiko.
