The Man Booker‑winning author opens the 14th edition, which brings literary performances, workshops, installations and open mic to Limassol
The International Interdisciplinary Literature Festival SARDAM returns to Limassol from September 23 to 27, having now announced the detailed program of its 14th edition. Authors, poets, performers, musicians and visual artists from Cyprus and abroad will meet in a five‑day event that brings literature out of the pages of books again.
The honored guest of this year’s edition is American writer Lydia Davis, who was awarded the Man Booker International Prize in 2013 and is considered one of the most important contemporary voices of the short form. She will open the festival on Wednesday, September 23, with a live online interview coordinated by SARDAM’s artistic curator Maria A. Ioannou.
On Thursday, September 24, at Xydadiko, “DIAL” from Ireland will be presented, a writing, performance and recording project by Christodoulos Makri, with musicians Joanna Mattrey and Keith Lindsay.
The two group evenings of literary performances will take place on Friday, September 25 and Saturday, September 26 at the Polychoros Synergeio. Live appearances will include creators from Cyprus, Greece, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Hungary, South Africa and Chile, among them Foivi Giannisi, Christos Chrysopoulos, Thanos Stathopoulos, Kinga Toth, Jeff Hilson, Iris Colomb and montenegrofisher.
The program also includes three workshops. Elena Agathokleous will present a storytelling and performance workshop around the relationship of places and identities, Christos Chrysopoulos will lead a creative writing workshop “LIFE WRITING | Writing the Self”, and British poet Jeff Hilson will explore experimental approaches to the sonnet form.
On Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27, on the ground floor of Tapper, Iris Colomb will present an installation with poetic and textual objects she uses in her performances. The event will conclude on Sunday at the Polychoros Synergeio with the SARDAM Open Mic, in collaboration with Kenó Publications, which will be open in all languages.
