Constantia Sotiriou's award-winning novel is presented in the form of a staged theatrical proportion with live music.
For just one night, Nicosia Municipal Garden is transformed into the garden of a major hotel in the city. In the wake of Ledra Palace, two guests meet at the bar, next to the pool. A glass of Brandy Sour, mint, lemonade, zivania, coffee, irani, rose tea and cold tears become the grounds for the emergence of stories of people who passed through there and saw their lives change along with the History of Cyprus.
In Brandy Sour, honored with the State Novel Award, the Hotel is not treated as a monument of historical charge but extends before and beyond historical events, and becomes a charming meeting place for people. A place where Greek Cypriots, Turkish Cypriots, international personalities and visitors from different countries co-existed, worked, fell in love, said goodbye, waited. Presentation is not limited to narration but it brings to life these small and large human moments, approaching them through the sensory elements that they have – flavors, smells and sounds. The Municipal Garden acts as a natural extension of the stage world, causing us to see and feel in a different way the placemark of our everyday life.
