"Vuni" returns with a new cycle of performances in Nicosia and Limassol

Luisa Papaloizou's multi-awarded novel goes back on stage, in a theatre adaptation and directed by Maria Kyriakou
The award-winning novel "The Vouni" by Luisa Papaloizou returns to the stage with a new cycle of performances in Limassol and Nicosia. Maria Kyriakou, who signs the cover and direction, brings to life the story of Xenos, Daughter and Swede through a modern dramatic approach and a twelve-member group of actors.
With a background of a mountain in an uncritical area of Cyprus, the performance runs through the early decades of the 20th century until the early 1970s. The memory, loss and search for identity meet the stifling environment of mountain Cyprus and the archaeological excavations of the Swedish Mission in the area of Solon during the period of Angloocracy.
The novel was awarded in 2021 with the State Novel Award in Cyprus and, for half, with the respective State Prize in Greece.
