Where: 34.976188, 33.848752

Potatoes hold a special place in the lives of the villages of Kokkinohoria (“Red Soil Villages”)—a region that gets its name from its rich, fertile red soil. It is here that some of the most delicious potatoes in Europe—and perhaps the entire world—are grown.
Visit the Potato Festival in one of the villages—Xylophagos—and you’ll see for yourself that it’s impossible not to fall in love with this simple yet amazing product.
This is a wonderful opportunity to try potatoes prepared in a wide variety of ways—from traditional recipes to unusual modern variations. Experienced chefs will share their secrets and explain how to prepare potatoes to perfection.
At the festival, you can also visit a potato exhibition and learn more about the many varieties grown in this region. A separate exhibit will be dedicated to the agricultural machinery and equipment used in potato cultivation.
Guests will have the chance to meet local residents and learn about traditional professions related to growing and harvesting potatoes.
The festival will conclude with a grand concert featuring renowned Greek performers. You can expect a truly festive atmosphere, music, dancing, and the opportunity to spend an unforgettable evening with the locals.
And to learn more about Cyprus’s famous agricultural products and the stories behind them, check out the project “Our Crops—At the Heart of Legends.”
