LAB51 is a unique duo formed in 2016, consisting of soprano Johanna Vargas and pianist Magdalena Sereso.
The duo won First Prize at the John Cage Competition in Halberstadt and has gained international recognition for its unconventional creative approach. LAB51 combines classical voice and piano with multimedia and performance art, transforming every performance into a true theatrical event.
The duo has performed at renowned international festivals of contemporary music, including the Darmstadt Summer Courses for New Music, ECLAT, and the Festival de Royaumont, and has completed an artistic residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. Their performances have been broadcast on international radio stations and media platforms in Germany, France, and Spain.
As part of the 17th Pharos International Festival of Contemporary Music, LAB51 will present three landmark works by composers Bernhard Lang, Georges Aperghis, and György Ligeti.
Guests can expect a truly extraordinary performance that blends hypnotic electronic music, surreal physical theater, and impressive vocal acrobatics. It will be a journey through the mysterious, absurd, and incredibly theatrical world of contemporary music.
