The Corridor. A Contemporary Dance Performance

On October 4, 2026, as part of the Nicosia International Festival, the contemporary dance performance “The Corridor” will take place—a new work by renowned Cypriot choreographer Fotis Nikolaou.
This is a poetic and multi-layered production about grief, memory, loss, resistance, and the search for one’s own identity. At the heart of the performance is the universal experience of saying goodbye. And this is not just about the loss of a loved one. Gradually, we bid farewell to our youth, our sense of security, our desires, our freedom, and—perhaps most importantly—our sense of belonging.
The “corridor” itself becomes a metaphor for human life—a space of transition, trial, and transformation. It is a place where the familiar collides with the unknown, tenderness with threat, and the past with the present.
The stage transforms into an inner labyrinth where fears, vulnerability, memories, and hopes intertwine. Through the movement of their bodies, the performers relive traces of the past, confront their limits, and go through a process of inner healing again and again.
But *The Corridor* goes far beyond personal history. The performance touches on themes of aging, loneliness, marginalization, and discrimination, and the stage itself becomes a space of resistance against violence, fascism, and systemic injustice.
At the same time, the production does not offer ready-made answers. Rather, it invites the audience to pause, listen to their own memories and emotions, and journey alongside the characters through a space of loss and change.
In the finale, “The Corridor” transforms into a deeply personal journey—a path that every person, sooner or later, must walk on their own.
Price: €20—standard ticket, €15—reduced-price ticket.
Reduced-price tickets are available to seniors aged 65 and older, students, the unemployed, and people with disabilities. Admission is free for people with disabilities upon presentation of a valid ID; a companion receives a reduced-price ticket.

The production premiered in Cyprus with the support of the Department of Contemporary Arts of the Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Cyprus as part of the Terpsichore 2026 program, and was subsequently selected to participate in the Athens Epidaurus Festival 2026.
