Absolute masterpiece of the romantic ballet, The Swan Lake of Piotr Ilich Tchaikovsky illuminates this evening under the sign of dance, movement and orchestral poetry. In this music that has become mythical, each motif seems to outline a gesture, each theme suggests a narrative: the strings deploy the grace of the swans, the woods bring mystery and lightness, while the brass emphasize the dramatic impulses and the majesty of the great scenes.
Around this iconic score, the program explores the many faces of dance. With Since the Dawn, Olivier Calmel imagines a cycle of four dances retracing the passage of a day: from the luminous momentum of dawn to the fervor of the night. Habanera passionate, energetic tango and trance inspired by an Indian talâ unfold a writing rich in rhythms and colors.
Two composers continue this musical journey.
Ballet's Air of Augusta Holmès, created in 1870, seduces with its dramatic energy and elegance of choreographic writing.
Charlotte Sohy's varied theme for violin and orchestra reveals all the expressive richness of the violin, whose initial theme is transformed through subtle variations.
Finally, the invitation to travel extends this journey into a poetic and dreamlike universe. A clue: it is also a work for violin and orchestra...
