On October 17, Nicosia will host an unusual performance titled “Souvenirs” (Souvenirs)—a poetic story about memory, love, loss, dreams, and the emotions we carry within ourselves.
This is a performance that needs no words.
The French creative duo Claire Théault and Anthony Figueiredo combine contemporary dance, physical theater, shadow theater, and video projections to create an almost cinematic world on stage.
Before the audience’s eyes, a man’s memories of his childhood and his first encounter with the woman he loves come to life. An apartment, city rooftops, a subway car, a bus stop—familiar places are transformed into a space of memory where the past intertwines with the present.
The characters seem to unpack their emotional baggage—and along with it, they bring to the surface everything that has shaped their lives: anxieties, doubts, emotional trauma, sensitivity, and dreams they refuse to let go of.
But “Souvenirs” isn’t just about pain.
It is a story about human connection, vulnerability, acceptance, and the ability to heal together. It explores how light and darkness coexist, and how confronting one’s inner fears can become a source of strength and hope.
With humor, tenderness, and stunning visual aesthetics, the performers tell a universal story that resonates with audiences of all ages, regardless of language.
“Souvenirs” is a 70-minute journey into the world of memories, where movement speaks louder than words.
Admission is free for people with disabilities upon presentation of a valid ID.
