SEB LOWE (22h30)
(Indian folk - Manchester, UK)
This is Seb Lowe, the new rising star of the 22-year-old British indie scene, leading a band composed of Kate Violin Couriel and Joel Goodwin on drums. Inspired by a wide range of artists, including Sinead O
If his songs address hot topics such as social injustice, politics, sexism and many others, Seb's spirit, humour and melodic sensitivity guarantee that they are transmitted with nuance and accessibility. He attached great importance to the power of words to generate constructive conversations, even between participants whom everything seemed to oppose.
KATE CURRENT (21h30)
(Folk - Manchester, UK)
Kate Couriel is an electric violinist based in Manchester, best known for her central role in Seb Lowe. Born from the classical music community, Kate developed a high-level technique, at the height of the Hallé Youth Orchestra – where she was then the youngest musician. After his training, Kate began exploring the electric violin in order to push the conventional limits of the instrument and venture into a wide range of musical genres.
As a main violinist on K's first album, which entered the rankings, Kate brought baroque-style fioriture to their indie rock sound. With Seb Lowe's band, Kate is inspired by classical, folk, theatrical, punk and rock music to showcase Seb's powerful lyricism, developing a "one-of-a-kind sound." It is said that she "dynamicizes the songs thanks to the dramatic side that her strings bring to rock music".
