In 1938, Virginia Woolf writes Trois Guinées, an epistolary novel in which she demonstrates how war is, structurally, a masculine affair. Today, as international conflicts rage, Maud Blandel seizes this text as a starting point and composes a collective hallucination of three dancers, drawing on psychedelic imaginations to overturn established structures.
In the wake of L’Œil nu, presented at TPM in 2024, Maud Blandel continues her research around sound dramaturgy, sound/movement relationships, and intense bodies, sometimes seized by rhythm, sometimes stunned. In a percussive, ultra‑energetic, and disorganized flow, where any attempt at marching in step is deliberately sabotaged, Same Old Songs offers a heterotopia that rejects any warlike project and, thereby, gives shape to another future.
