For three evenings, the festival invites a true musical journey between Iran, the Middle East and Africa, where contemporary jazz, musical traditions, improvisation and new sounds meet.
Driven by a desire to rethink identity through music, SaazBuzz creates a space for dialogue between cultures, artists and audiences. A unique and borderless program to discover in the heart of Paris.
For its 2ᵉ edition in Paris, the SaazBuzz Jazz Festival continues its aim of creating musical encounters between artists, stories and different cultures. The festival brings together musicians from Iran, the Middle East, Africa and other international scenes around a shared vision: “Rethink identity through music”.
Three evenings, three musical worlds, one shared vision.
The first night is dedicated to Persian Jazz Night, a creation born from the meeting of contemporary jazz and Persian classical music. Original compositions, reinterpretations and collective improvisations shape a space where Persian musical heritage meets the language of jazz.
The second night honors two perspectives on Middle Eastern music. Kamilya Jubran and Werner Hasler unite voice, oud, trumpet and electronic textures in a free and contemporary approach. Lynn Adib continues this exploration through a personal writing where Middle Eastern musical traditions, poetry and contemporary jazz meet.
The third night brings together three proposals around the richness of musical heritage and its contemporary reinvention. Saeid and Naghib Shanbehzadeh open the evening with the musical traditions of southern Iran. Arat Kilo, accompanied by Mamani Keïta and Mike Ladd, then revisits Ethiopian sounds through jazz, funk, afrobeat and spoken word, before making way for the Richard Bona Quintet to close this second edition.
