Drawing inspiration from pioneering Korean-American visual artist Theresa Hak Kyung Cha, Peter S. Shin's Bits Torn From Words takes advantage of Roomful of Teeth's vocal eclecticism for a dizzying plunge into anxiety syndromes and their physiological and psychological reverberations – even dissecting the foundations of the Korean language. Gabriel Kahane, in turn, leverages his own singer-songwriter experience to make Elevator Songs a true anthology of melodies that highlight the respective qualities of the ensemble's eight voices.
