Presentation of the work
LE BOLERO DE RAVEL
Boléro is the most frequently performed classical musical piece in the world, it is played every 15 minutes. When it was created, the composer transferred the copyright to his gardener, not foreseeing its popularity among the general public.
This work is an archetype of ostinato. The melody is performed alternately by different orchestra instruments on a percussive rhythmic formula.
LE REQUIEM DE MOZART
The special circumstances of the commission of this work and, in part, the tragic conditions of its composition on the author's deathbed feed the legend. In juillet 1791 Count Walsegg‑Stuppach, under a seal of secrecy, commissioned Mozart's Requiem for his wife, who died in February. The work was postponed until octobre due to the composer's exhaustion, overwhelmed by Clémence de Titus and Flûte Enchantée.
At the time of Mozart's death the Requiem remained an unfinished work. In the final phase of his illness Mozart fully wrote the “Requiem aeternam”: from Kyrie to Confutatis, only the vocal parts and the continuous bass line were written. For Lacrimosa only the first eight measures of the vocal line and the first two measures of the violin and viola parts were recorded. Sketches of additional sections were lost. While he lay in bed, friends came to sing parts of the Requiem at his bedside.
Hélios
Dynamic and eclectic, the Hélios orchestra has been established since its founding in 2014.
Its artistic director Paul Savalle promotes professional employment of young musicians through orchestral practice. Thus, young graduates work together with orchestra members, conductors, and experienced soloists in optimal working conditions.
From Baroque music to contemporary, the programs are diverse. As for the repertoire, it is both symphonic and choral, and the orchestra collaborates with departmental and regional choirs.
Thanks to collaboration with various conductors, the musicians master a very rich repertoire, expanding their palette of interpretations. All of them are graduates of major French conservatories, some belong to the national orchestra.
From string quartet to symphonic orchestra, through a brass ensemble, the orchestra constantly expands its audience by changing its lineup. The string section performs in picturesque locations where a symphonic orchestra cannot be accommodated, allowing the public to become acquainted with a very rich architectural heritage.
In the end, thanks to its variable ensemble geometry, the Hélios orchestra covers the broadest repertoire with keen curiosity.
