Never take for granted the rights won through hard struggle by feminist and LGBT movements
This short, accessible, popular‑science essay aims to recall the genesis of this movement, the violence and challenges it has faced and continues to face, while offering a small note of hope and optimism in the face of backlash, hateful discourse, and governments in Western countries—France, United States, Italy, in particular. The author reminds us of the importance of intersectional links and struggles in feminist, LGBTQIA+ and workers' movements.
“Countering the insult requires knowing its actors and threats, giving memory to our struggles, and basing our fight on the power of a united collective.”
“Never forget that a political, economic, or religious crisis will be enough for gender minority rights to be questioned. These rights are never acquired. You must remain vigilant your whole life.”
The essay is a powerful call to resistance and retaliation against LGBT‑phobic insult.
Summary
“The re‑election of Trump confirms the rebirth of a fascist international that translates, among other things, into a violent backlash against our rights. Countering the insult inflicted on us requires knowing its actors and threats, giving memory to our struggles, and basing our fight on the power of a united collective.”
The meeting will be followed by a sale in partnership with Librairie Flora Lit and a signing session.
As part of the Pride Festival organized by the City Hall of the 14th.
