In La vie brute, Joy Sorman evokes her encounter with Irene Gérard, a so-called "brute" artist living in the Ardennes and neuroatypical. For a year, Sorman tried to discover the mystery of this woman whose art, both raw and poetic, fascinates and intrigues. Their relationship becomes the pretext for questioning marginality, artistic creation, and the quest for meaning across the other.
