Aristos Vamvakousis, Maria Tsiógga and Dimitris Sfíggos meet on the stage of Μικρή Άρκτος for an evening that aspires to become a great musical gathering.
With selected rebetiko and folk songs in their luggage, three musicians with significant careers set off from Syros and Thessaloniki for a musical tour of Cyprus. Aristos Vamvakousis, Maria Tsiógga and Dimitris Sfíggos will make stops in Λευκωσία, Κακοπετριά, Πάφο and Λεμεσό, presenting a program full of beloved melodies, played with love and respect.
First stop, Μικρή Άρκτος in Λευκωσία, on Thursday August 6. The highlight of the evening will be the songs that were loved and passed from generation to generation, with the sole purpose of uniting musicians and audience in a great gathering.
Aristos Vamvakousis from Syros is an acclaimed bouzouki soloist, a permanent collaborator of Stavros Xarchákos and the director professor of the music school “En chordais kai organois”. For years he was a collaborator of Manolis Pappou, and he has numerous appearances in recordings, concerts and television shows.
With her, Maria Tsiógga, a young yet already experienced performer with a rich folk repertoire and collaborations with prominent musicians from Thessaloniki and Athens.
The group is completed by guitarist and singer Dimitris Sfíggos, who has been active in the scene since 1986. Since 2006 he runs in Thessaloniki the well‑known music venue “Princessa”, from whose stage many important representatives of Greek folk and traditional music have performed.
