A massive documentary project without parallels in the history of live performance, Radio Live today is presented as two new chapters, lived and recorded in Kyiv and au Caire. On stage, testimonies, dialogues, music and images weave stories permeated by the question of reconstruction.
With more than ten years of experience, Aurélie Charon leads a very unique project that sits between the tasks of documentary theatre and the codes of live radio. Radio Live is simultaneously a portrait of generations and a long conversation about issues of involvement and transmission, telling the world through the stories of young people experiencing the strongest upheavals. Each chapter invites two people onto the stage, as if presenting life paths unfolding in dialogue, video and music. With Vivantes (presented in Chaillot in April 2024), Nos vies à venir and Réuni.es the collective opened a new cycle of this fresco. Two “day after” chapters form the second part, fueled both by intertwined connections with those who joined several years ago and by the vitality of new encounters. During stays in Ukraine and Egypt, participants exchange their stories, question their parents, their cities, their languages. These recorded moments feed a joint journal on stage, consisting of images, drawings, music and words. Every evening their exchanges are reproduced differently, in the immediacy of the present. These new chapters, presented in Chaillot, touch on themes of reconstruction and restoration, in a political and initiative gesture: to be in motion, action and creativity, in order to envision a common future.
