Queer Wave 2026: Returns to NiMAC LGBTIA+ Film Festival Cyprus on September 18–27
When: 18.09.2026 03:00
In the heart of the walled city of Nicosia, the Cyprus LGBTQ+ Film Festival makes its appearance for the 7th consecutive time.
Queer Wave will be hosted for another year in the exhibition spaces of NiMAC from 18–27 September 2026, presenting a unique mosaic of cinema, performances and parallel activities.
In September, Queer Wave will open its doors for a ten‑day program of screenings and parallel actions, bringing local and international directors, and giving voice to the experiences and queer expression of the LGBTQ+ community.
Updates on this year’s program and events before the festival will be announced via the website queerwave.com and the festival’s social media (@queerwavecyprus).
Queer Wave 2026 is organized by the non‑profit company Queer Wave LTD and funded by the Deputy Ministry of Culture and the Department of Contemporary Culture.
In the past 6 years, the festival has offered more than 250 island‑wide premieres of LGBTQ+ films from the international scene, while also supporting the work of Cypriot directors and artists more broadly.
NiMAC [Municipal Centre of Arts of Nicosia, in collaboration with the Pierides Foundation] is housed in the renovated building of the Old Electricity, in the historic centre of Nicosia. It is the oldest and largest Centre of Contemporary Art in Cyprus.
