Projection "La Noire de" by Ousmane Sembène

On September 16 at 7 pm, we will meet you at the Maison de la Conversation for a screening of "La Noire de" (1966), the first feature film by Senegalese director Ousmane Sembène. This screening will be followed by a discussion and an exchange with the media @ging.her around the film.
Throughout the history of Diouana, a young Senegalese domestic worker who follows her bosses in France, she faces her arrival to racism and abuse. The film addresses colonial heritage, migration, racism and the experience of black women in France in the 1969s.
The screening is organized in collaboration with The Nomad Film Society, a film club that brings together an international film community and contributes to the archiving and distribution of African films.
