Iconic figure of American underground comics, Art Spiegelman is best known for Maus, a graphic novel in two volumes, mainly inspired by his father's personal memories and his need to overcome the trauma inherited from his parents, both Holocaust survivors. The work, published in the mid‑1980s, achieved great public and critical success. Through interviews with the artist and his close ones, this documentary traces the evolution of the author's career and sheds light on the history of the transformation of comics, from a medium usually associated with humor to one capable of telling stories, even the most tragic.
