The Norwegian saxophonist Petter Wettre, double winner of the Norwegian Grammys (Spellemannprisen), launches an ambitious new project: Petter Wettre Scandinavian Unit. This group brings together three exceptional musicians from the contemporary Nordic scene. On guitar, the Norwegian Bjørn Vidar Solli, recognized for his lyrical playing and modern virtuosity. The rhythm section is provided by two Swedes based in Paris: Viktor Nyberg on double bass, driving a supple and deep pulse, and Rasmus Blixt on drums, whose inventive energy propels the ensemble toward new sonic territories.
With this quartet, Wettre explores a resolutely European aesthetic, blending Scandinavian intensity, improvisation, and a melodic elegance that is his own. Scandinavian Unit thus marks a new step in the journey of a musician who continues to redefine Nordic jazz.
