Originally from the Isle of Man, after a detour through Brighton’s uncomfortable pebbles, Penelope Isles resurfaces, oscillating between bright light and shadows.
Three years after their last concert, life has gently transformed everything. Two solo albums have been released, new bands have formed, old reference points have collapsed, but an irresistible attractive force finally brought them back to each other. Yet Penelope Isles’ sound remains instantly recognizable: fuzz‑saturated, rich in melodies, and loaded with emotion.
Now a true trio with the arrival of drummer Joe Taylor, Penelope Isles sounds broader, freer, and more alive than ever. The guitars sparkle and clash, the harmonies swing between pain and momentum, while the drums explode like a strange storm suddenly arriving from the coast.
Brother and sister Wolter write songs like postcards from an almost inaccessible place, Brighton waterfront apartments, wobbly restaurants, memories half‑burned by the sun. Something beautiful, fragile, always on the brink of disappearing.
Always fascinated by love, grief, and the traces they leave behind, Penelope Isles now appears more open, brighter, and more unstable than ever. And everything seems to be moving again.
