Introduction
On the occasion of the Paris Design Week and the European Heritage Days, the Maison Lacmé studio presents Astre Mobile, a transparent car transformed into a work of art, between crafts, matter and imaginary.
Astre Mobile is a transparent car that hides its game well, whether it is driving or still. Thought as a work in its own right, it is in line with the Art Cars, where the automobile becomes an artistic expression medium.
Designed and artistically directed by Antoine Tauvel, Artistic Director of Maison Lacmé, Astre Mobile is born from a thorough design work combining drawings, formal research, models and sculptural prototypes. Together is a mixture of luxury and simplicity, noble and durable materials bear the trace of the ephemeral, movement and gestures.
This work also praises the meeting and collective creation. A dozen French art artisans were invited to intervene. Now, onyx, shell, wood, leather, feathers, lacquer, porcelain: each material is worked as a language, each piece as an autonomous work. From the steering wheel to the counter, from the speed pommeau to the saddlery, the elements of everyday life are transformed and reinterpreted from the original artistic intentions of Antoine Tauvel.
Mobile Being in the inner courtyard of the Hotel de la Marine; Appropriations: Hervé Voët
Astre Mobile is thus discovered as a mobile curiosity firm. A work that can be understood as a whole or fragmented, with each detail. Separate parts can also be diverted from their original use with many surprises like these stone trimmers that become a lamp and are replaced by their version in trompe l'oeil, the logo of the car that turns into jewel, etc. An invitation to slow down the look, to explore the matter, to give way to the imagination.
The project is based on recurring notions in the work of Antoine Tauvel: movement, time, play, the link to elements and stars. Each intervention dialogues with these themes, from the artisanal gesture to the evocation of broader phenomena, from touch to light.
Both object, work and experience, Astre Mobile questions our relationship to objects and their use. It proposes another reading of automobile: not only as a means of transport, but as a territory of creation and dreaming.

ABOUT MAISON LACMÉ
Maison Lacmé is a creative studio founded by Cécile and Antoine Tauvel. Their approach combines art, design and craftsmanship, with particular attention to collaborations and know-how. Astre Mobile marks the first work from this joint exploration.
Together, they accompany collectors, interior architects, institutions and luxury homes. Their goal: to give life to dreamlike universes and objects, to revive wonder, to celebrate the beauty of the moment, and to weave stories to share, where exchanges are born and time disappears.
