The new workshop is aimed at those who love writing, literature and the power of few words
The Limassol International Book Fair presents its 3rd major workshop for 2026, with the distinguished Greek lyricist, author and columnist Odysseas Ioannou.
After the excellent response to last year’s workshop, the Fair continues its collaboration with Odysseas Ioannou and returns to Nicosia with a new, intensive and creative creative writing workshop dedicated to the power of the short form.
Titled “Between Verse and Prose: The Power of the Short Form,” the workshop puts at its core a particularly interesting question: what happens when only a few words are called to contain an entire world?
Microfiction, song lyric and prose poetry meet in a six‑hour creative lab, where writing does not remain theory but becomes practice: participants write, experiment, receive feedback and edit their texts through the eye and experience of one of the most important contemporary Greek lyricists.
The workshop is divided into two main parts.
PART A — The short form
Why is the short form making a dynamic comeback today? How can a brief text create tension, emotion and a complete world?
In the first part the following will be examined:
PART B — Writing workshop
In the second, purely workshop part, participants will move into their own writing. Based on excerpts from Odysseas Ioannou, they will create their own texts, which will become the subject of feedback.
The workshop will conclude with a discussion by Odysseas Ioannou with the participants, starting from the texts created during the workshop.
Two groups – limited number of participants
The workshop will take place at the offices of Limassol International Book Fair in Nicosia, on two different dates:
Address: Archbishop Makarios III 82A, Office 301, 1077, Nicosia
The total duration is 6 hours, with intermediate breaks, snacks and refreshments.
Participation cost: €95 + VAT
Places are strictly limited.
A few words about the speaker: a “songwriter” with 200 songs to his credit
Odysseas Ioannou is a lyricist, columnist and author. He has written lyrics for about 200 songs, has released nine personal albums and has collaborated with major Greek composers and performers. At the same time, he has written for theater and film and has published five books. For more than two decades he was a radio producer, and from 2000 to 2010 he served as director of the radio station Melodia 99.2. He has chosen to describe himself simply as a “writer” — a label that perhaps summarizes his relationship with writing better than any other.
The new seminar of the International Book Fair of Limassol is aimed at those who love writing, literature, and the power of a few words and want to experiment with the short form, write, and see their text from a different perspective. No prior writing experience is required.
