The 6th Traditional Festival "Back to the Old – Tastes of Galaktos" is a complete celebration dedicated to Cypriot tradition, culinary heritage and the promotion of local dairy products. The aim of the event is to revive images, flavors, sounds and traditional arts of another era, offering visitors an authentic experience that links the past to the present.
Throughout the festival, visitors will have the opportunity to attend live presentations of the production of traditional dairy products, such as halloumi, anari and trahanas, as well as the preparation of traditional dishes, such as mashed potatoes with anari and halloumi, milk and rice. At the same time, booths of local producers will operate, where visitors will be able to meet, taste and procure traditional dairy products.
Special place in the program is held by the experiential actions for young and old. Guests will have the opportunity to get to know the milking process in person, while an interactive culinary workshop will be held by a professional chef, in which young and adults will actively participate in the preparation of traditional milk-based dishes. At the same time, a second cooperating chef will present creative culinary proposals using dairy products, while visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy free tastings and treats, offering Charalambidi Kristi, highlighting the quality and unique taste of Cypriot dairy products.
At the same time, the festival will revive important aspects of Cypriot folk tradition through live displays of traditional arts and professions. Visitors will be able to watch pottery, the manufacture of pithkian, the art of waffles, the sailing of courgettes and the sewing of traditional vests, knowing from generation to generation techniques that are an integral part of our cultural identity.
The atmosphere of the event will frame live traditional Cypriot music and dance bands, creating an authentic festive environment that will take visitors back to the old and highlight the wealth of the Cypriot cultural heritage.
The festival aspires to be a point of reference for the promotion of local gastronomy, traditional arts, local producers and cultural identity of the region, while enhancing traffic, local economy and cultural tourism in the Cypriot countryside.
Through the collaboration of the Community Councils of Flasos and Linou, it aspires to establish itself as an important institution of culture and gastronomy, attracting visitors from all over Cyprus and abroad.
