A new adventure of the beloved hero of Greek shadow theater offers the 29th Cultural Festival of the University of Cyprus to its little friends with the performance “Karagiozis and the Treasure of Cyprus”.
When a country that has fallen into economic collapse desperately searches for the legendary Treasure of Cyprus, Karagiozis takes on, with his well‑known stubbornness, ingenuity and humor, to solve the riddle. The quest leads to unexpected situations and comic twists, until the revelation of the treasure overturns everyone’s expectations.
The work uses the satirical power of shadow theater to remind that the real wealth of a place is not found in material goods, but in its history, culture and cultural heritage.
Respecting the tradition of shadow theater, the Shadow Theater Group “Skiologoi” highlights the timeless charm of Karagiozis through a performance full of humor, imagination and ingenuity that creatively renews one of the most beloved forms of folk theater.
