The concert “Bridge” unites poetry with Greek and Cypriot musical tradition, presenting a cycle of songs with lyrics by Angelos Sikelianos, Kostas Montis and Vasilis Rotas
The Bridge concert presents the first complete recorded work of Christos Petrou, a cycle of songs that attempts to build bridges between contemporary creation, history, poetry and our cultural identity. As the title suggests, the album expresses the need to keep open the road that connects our era with what shapes us and continues to move us.
In lyrics by important Greek poets such as Angelos Sikelianos, Kostas Montis and Vasilis Rotas, as well as by the creator himself, the songs combine elements of Greek and Cypriot musical tradition with contemporary synthetic and orchestral approaches. With a multi‑section orchestra and a sound that balances lyrical and folk elements, the concert highlights a personal musical language with deep roots in tradition.
In addition to the songs from the eponymous album, the concert includes selections from earlier and unpublished compositions by Christos Petrou, outlining his creative journey. With about twenty‑five years of presence on the music scene of Cyprus and Greece as a singer and guitarist, Christos Petrou presents his personal compositional work in full for the first time.
