The Cypriot dialect meets the musical traditions of the Eastern Mediterranean in a new cycle of songs, inspired by the relationship between humans and nature.
On the occasion of the release of his new record work, Vasilis Filipou collaborates with three outstanding musicians, forming a dynamic quartet, in which, especially for the presentation at the Cultural Festival of the University of Cyprus, Manos Stratis participates as a guest musician on contrabass.
This new work by Filipou continues his personal exploration of Cypriot music and dialect. It is a cycle of songs that draws inspiration from the relationship between humans and nature and highlights what we can learn about life and ourselves through observing the natural world, trees, and birds.
The compositions are based on the musical traditions of the Eastern Mediterranean and combine the Cypriot dialect with elements of improvisation, lyrical melodies, and complex rhythms, shaping a distinctive musical language that creatively converses with tradition. The result is a contemporary tropical music, where tradition is transformed into a personal artistic proposal.
