Since she succumbed to the jazz virus during her college years near New York, where she hung out with Kenny Barron's students, Eliz is completely hooked. But it is in Paris, her adopted city, that she learns to sing for real and to improvise on the famous 'grilles' of jazz. For the American she is, 'jazz standards' are timeless lyric songs written by the virtuosos of Broadway's golden age. Consequently, she offers them to the audience with as much respect for the original composition & the poetry of the lyrics as freedom for personal expression. Helped by a warm vocal timbre and a generous stage presence, Eliz and her orchestra provide a bubble of joyful and comforting humanity.
Eliz & her New York Swing took the opportunity to invite a prestigious soloist: trumpeter and composer Jean Gobinet, with whom Eliz sang in a large ensemble. The seasoned musicians Vinh Lê on piano and Michel Rosciglione on double bass form a rhythm section as powerful as it is fusionary.
