Created in 1983, Rosas danst Rosas has been performed more than 500 times by twenty‑eight dancers from five generations.
With MULTICAST Rosas danst Rosas, the iconic work of Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker finds an unprecedented scale: twenty performers, from the original cast to the youngest, gather around this flagship piece.
The writing, based on repetition and everyday gestures, combined with an unflinching sensuality, gains here an expanded collective dimension, where multiplied memories intersect and are transmitted.
On stage, the four dancers of 1983 — including De Keersmaeker herself — share the floor with newcomers, in a relay passage that is as thrilling as it is moving.
The choreography is subtly redrawn in space, opening new perspectives, without losing its tension or visual impact. Cycles, counterpoints and familiar gestures compose a common body where a physical memory passed from dancer to dancer is inscribed. More than a revival, MULTICAST reveals Rosas danst Rosas as a living territory where past and present dialogue at the very heart of contemporary dance history.
