Ierokipia returns with four distinct evenings of culture, featuring music, theater, classical percussion and traditional elements
Four distinct evenings of culture, with music, theater, classical percussion and traditional elements, comprise the program of “Ierokipia 2026,” organized in September by the Municipality of Ierokipia.
This year’s events will take place on September 11, 16, 20 and 25, with free admission for the public, creating a diverse program that combines contemporary artistic creation with the cultural tradition of the region.
The curtain opens on Friday, September 11, at 8:00 p.m., in Geroskepos Square, with the major musical performance “We Sing Our Poets.” On stage will be Pantelis Thalassinos and Babis Stokas, together with the Cyprus String Orchestra and the participation of Katerina Paraschou.
The artistic director is Antonis Koïzas and the orchestra is conducted by Antonis Mytakidis.
On Wednesday, September 16, at 8:00 p.m., the program moves to Geroskepos Gymnasium, where the theatrical play “Tonight I’m Not for Anyone” by Juan Carlos Rubio, directed by Marinos Anogyriatis, will be presented.
The play features Valentina Sofokleous, Alkiviadis Konstantinos, Eleana Papadopoulou and Loukas Zikos. The production is a co‑production of the ROI Theater and the Versus Theater.
The third evening, on Sunday, September 20, at 8:00 p.m., will be hosted at “Kato Vrysi” and will be dedicated to the distinctive sound of percussionists.
The Cyprus Percussion Group, founded in 2016 by Mario Nikolaou, will present a six‑member ensemble concert of classical percussion.
The program includes works by Steve Reich, Guo Wenjing, Christina Athinodou and other composers, highlighting the dynamic and varied sonic possibilities of percussion instruments.
“Ierokipia 2026” concludes on Friday, September 25, at 8:00 p.m., in the parking area of Aliathon Resort, as part of the celebration of World Tourism Day.
The final event will combine music and tradition, with the participation of musical and dance groups.
At the same time, the public will have the opportunity to visit an exhibition space dedicated to “Loukoumi Geroskepos,” to learn about traditional products and professions, and to taste free traditional delicacies.
The program will also include a visual media screening about Geroskepos.
With the four‑day program, the Municipality of Ierokipia again emphasizes culture as a meeting point for music, theater, contemporary creation and local tradition, offering the public four evenings with free admission.
