Chara Miller and her Jazz Quartet are coming to Paphos with beloved standards, bossa nova and melodies that never lose their charm
A beautiful garden in Paphos, a warm summer evening and some of the most recognizable jazz melodies. On Friday August 7, Technopolis 20 welcomes the Chara Miller Jazz Quartet for an evening that moves to the rhythms of jazz, swing and bossa nova.
At the center is Chara Miller, one of the rising voices of the Cypriot jazz scene, who will perform pieces that have been loved and sung for decades. With her on stage will be Aimilios Patsalidis on guitar, Kyriacos Kesta on double bass and George Kylilis on drums.
The program takes us on a journey through different eras and moods, with songs such as “Fly Me to the Moon”, “The Girl from Ipanema”, “All of Me”, “L-O-V-E” and “Sway”, along with other selections from the rich repertoire of jazz and bossa nova.
The quartet approaches the familiar pieces with fresh arrangements, while also leaving the necessary space for improvisation and immediacy that makes every jazz live performance different.
Chara Miller studied music at Royal Holloway, University of London, and continued with postgraduate studies in jazz vocal performance at the European University Cyprus. Alongside her live performances, she works as a vocal teacher and vocal coach.
A different musical offering for Friday night, in one of the most atmospheric gardens of Paphos.
