On stage, two performers support each other, brush against each other and look at each other. From simple, erotic and slowed gestures, they build a space where desire circulates without ever imposing itself. Contact, breathing and gaze become the main vectors of a sensuality where the boundaries between the one who acts and the one who receives constantly shift. The title plays on two uses of the word lounge in English: a verb meaning to lounge; a noun designating a public space where one can relax.
Lisbon-based artist imbued with the cultures and sounds of the African diaspora, Marga Alfeirão develops a choreographic writing where the body becomes a political and sensitive space. With LOUNGE, she unfolds a dance of gaze, detail, suggestion and desire. By creating safe spaces to explore intimacy and sexuality through feminine and feminized perspectives, the choreographer asserts an aesthetic of rest and pleasure as gestures of resistance against logics of exposure and performance.
