"Inclusive writing" is a debate: many people talk about it, but opinions are often based on preconceived ideas rather than on scientific, linguistic and historical foundations.
This cycle of 4 workshops proposes to take a time of reflection to understand what is really the inclusive language and the diversity of its forms (beyond the polemic midpoint); Realizing that it is a tool that we can all use daily, at work or at home, and learning how; To deconstruct the arguments against it and to know how to respond to it, to foster a constructive and inclusive citizen debate.
Programme
Workshop 1: Introduction to inclusive language
What is the difference between inclusive language and inclusive writing? What's the point? How do we do it? What are the different techniques? How to avoid backlash? Why do so many companies use it?
The introductory workshop lays the foundations for the debate and explains the major conventions of inclusive language based on concrete examples of everyday life (advertising, job offers, series...).
Workshop 3: Inclusive language, super-power of adults against gender stereotypes in children
When you raise or work with children, you ask yourself a lot of questions about how to avoid passing on stereotypes: to which game to play? What book to read? But there is a great power that we already have and that we tend to underestimate: the choice of our words and the use of a language where "male does not prevail". Because it conditions the vision of trades or the place of individuals in society from an early age, the choice of just, precise and inclusive words is crucial.
This workshop explores the scientific springs of the impact of words on gender stereotypes, proposes a deculpabilisant approach to learning French to children and suggests effective practices of inclusive language with children.
Workshop 4: "Included Writing": the bingo of arguments, or how to muscle its distribution to defend inclusive language
It's useless! It's a fake fight! It's unreadable for the dys! French is complicated enough! The tongue is not sexist! It's an interestless woke feminist thing! Don't you have better things to do?
Not always easy to answer by keeping calm. So let's play bingo arguments to practice!
In this workshop, after a quick introduction on the concept of inclusive language, we will review the great arguments of the refractories and we will play to answer them, mobilizing scientific, historical, linguistic arguments, with concrete illustrations to convince and debate without snaging.
Notes:
- it is not necessary to have attended an initiation workshop to attend the following workshops
- workshops are open to all, whether French is your mother tongue or not, but it is necessary to have good oral practice in order to follow and participate. This is not a French course, your "level" in grammar or spelling doesn't matter!
