Lukas Dana and Erwan Tarlet initially engage in hand‑to‑hand combat, the pace of which is entirely dictated by a boxing match. They conduct three‑minute rounds, as if presenting divergent, even grotesque, variations of ambiguous violence that bind the athletes in the ring. Their choreography soon takes on a more dreamlike turn, while the audience does not know which foot to dance on, simultaneously being a participant and a voyeur of a performance that unsettles as much as it captivates.
From the dance floor of techno clubs to the ring of boxing clubs, author and director Lukas
Dana observed and experienced the stereotypes surrounding male bodies when they touch each other and clash. By unveiling the homoerotic tension that permeates martial arts, the performance questions the duality of strictly regulated violence and its significance beyond the ring.
