In Florence, in 1537, the young Lorenzo de Médicis pretends debauchery to approach the duc Alexandre and prepare his assassination. But his solitary gesture, meant to free the city, mainly reveals the collective impotence and cowardice of the republican elites.
With Lorenzaccio, David Bobée offers a powerful rereading of the romantic masterpiece, fueled by an assumed political gesture. His adaptation merges the versions of George Sand and Alfred de Musset, restoring its full place to a matrimoine long hidden. As always with the director, the strength of the show lies especially in a striking scenography, a metaphor of a ruined city, and in an intergenerational and inclusive cast.
