Limassol Municipal Gardens will once again be transformed into a large-scale open-air festival. This year, the legendary event – which has been delighting residents and visitors to the island since 1961 – will take place under the inspiring motto ‘Drink wine, enjoy life’. The festival is open every evening from 7.00 pm until midnight, with free tastings from Cyprus’s finest wineries taking place from 7.30 pm to 10.00 pm.
The highlight of the festival will be the large-scale tastings, where you can try absolutely everything: from light, dry wines to traditional sweet Commandaria and strong Zivania. Possibility to buy favourite wines directly from the winemakers, whilst professional sommeliers will teach the finer points of taste and the secrets of Cypriot winemaking during special lectures and workshops.
As well as wine, guests can look forward to a huge food court serving traditional Cypriot cuisine, where succulent souvlaki and hot halloumi cheese will be grilled, whilst sweet loukoumades will be on offer for dessert. The highlight of the entertainment programme is the famous grape-stomping event, where anyone who fancies it can take off their shoes and, to the sound of music, step into the shoes of a winemaker from days gone by. Live music, folk dancing and theatrical performances will add to the festive atmosphere.
For younger guests, the organisers have set up a separate, spacious area with carousels, games, face painting and balloon modelling. Children can also look forward to exciting magic shows, puppet theatres and musical performances, which will keep them entertained whilst their parents relax.
