Emily Brisavoiné is trying to uncover the greatest mystery of the universe: her mother Meaud. A broken child, punk‑mother, wonderful grandmother and spontaneous feminist, Meaud is as mesmerizing as she is maddening. Maman déчире — is an intimate odyssey, a journey through the labyrinth of the psyche.
Emily Brisavoiné offers, as a path to healing, a psychedelic, mental and esoteric journey through time that takes the form of a pop‑collage, somewhere between a family film, found footage and a chamber performance.
The director filmed her teenage stepsister's relationship with Meaud in Pauline s’arrache (2015) ten years ago. This time she becomes involved in a family fresco and takes a side, while referencing Jonathan Caouette's approach in the vivid Tarnation (2003). Will she be able to confront her mother and soothe their relationship? A film worth watching with the whole family as an attempt at reconciliation.
