In 2026, the General States of Bioethics invited French and French people to discuss the ethical issues raised by advances in medicine and research. Behind these consultations are the key questions: how to define the person? What is consciousness? Where is the border between life and death? All these subjects go beyond the scientific field and engage our vision of humanity.
Designed by the Poetic Riposte, the generous states of bioethics propose to extend this reflection in an open, participatory and multidisciplinary format. Debates, dialogues, artistic interventions and public statements make up this day as a space for exchange and collective reflection.
From the question of the removal of organs from so-called "dead" donors, Faruja Hocini and Bruno Dallaporta propose an original reflection on consciousness, person and living. Their approach invites us to compare views, to question our representations and to nurture a citizen debate on these societal issues.
Faroudja Hocini is a psychiatrist, psychoanalyst, philosopher and researcher associated with the Chair of Philosophy at Sainte-Anne Hospital (GHU Paris Psychiatry & Neurosciences).
Bruno Dallaporta is a nephrologist at the Fondation Santé des Students de France, a Doctor of Science and Doctor of Ethics, specializing in philosophy applied to health.
