Do you love bread? Come rediscover it in a new way at a unique, friendly, and tasty event in the heart of the 14th arrondissement!
The Banquet des Pains invites you to a festive moment where bread becomes the hero of the day. Behind this everyday act: buying a baguette or cutting a slice, lies a world rich in know-how, passion, and history.
On Saturday, October 17, on Place Marcel Paul, bakers, artisans, enthusiasts, and residents gather to celebrate together this iconic product, a true pillar of our gastronomic culture.
Program for the day:
Discovery of the Graine de Quatorzien wheat collection: Explore a variety of locally grown wheats and discover their specifics. A beautiful journey from seed to bread.
Wheat dehulling workshop: A fun and educational moment to understand the origin of flour: come extract wheat grains by hand, as in the past!
Workshops around flour and bread: Knead, shape, and discover the baker’s techniques. Learn to make your own bread with advice from passionate artisans.
Wood‑fire oven baking: Experience the authentic old‑fashioned bread baking, and be enchanted by the aromas of warm bread.
Tasting of the neighborhood bakers’ breads: A great opportunity to taste a variety of breads made by the 14th’s artisan bakers. Maybe you’ll find your new favorite!
Portraits of Quatorzien bakers: Discover the faces and journeys of those who keep our neighborhood bakeries alive.
The Banquet des Pains is also a wonderful opportunity to teach children (and adults!) the value of artisanal work, the importance of product origins, and the direct link between field and plate. A warm event to create connections among residents, discover local talent, and celebrate those who, every day, bring life to our neighborhood and our tables.
