This Raices en Acuerdo project by the duo celebrates roots. The Cuban-born saxophonist and the Argentine-born pianist draw from their respective musical roots. Whether it's “Drume negrita”, that Cuban children's song, “Llora”, “Cartas de amor que se queman” or “La trunca norte” immortalized by Mercedes Sosa, these Cuban songs bathed in gentle nostalgia that sing the joys and disillusions of love and pierce hearts. Or whether it's “Soledad”, that nocturne bathed in the black light of melancholy of tango master Astor Piazzolla, Ricardo Izquierdo and Sergio Gruz have chosen for their reinterpretation the spirit rather than the letter. This lively silver duo has the force of evidence.
