Avicenna's theory of prophecy is a key to the Kitāb al-Shifāʾ. The intervention examines its reception by the contemporary Pakistani thinker Fazlur Rahman (1919-1988), who uses it to make the phenomenon of revelation intelligible to modern rationality.
With: Hazem Al Rahmany, postdoctoral researcher at Aix-Marseille Université. His research focuses on contemporary Quranic hermeneutics and the voices of the new theology in Islam.
The Falsafa meetings are coordinated and hosted by Jean-Baptiste Brenet, medievalist, professor of Arabic philosophy at Université Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne, agrégé of philosophy and doctor of the École Pratique des Hautes Études (section of religious sciences).
These conferences are recorded and published as podcasts, accessible on streaming platforms, and on the IMA website.
